Lima, Peru: Parque Kennedy
A Public Space with Feline Galore
There is a park in the center of Lima named after the late US President, John F. Kennedy. When visiting, most Peruvians are not thinking of his controversial presidency but rather the hundreds of cats that populate the area. Dubbed “El Parque de los Gatos,” cats were originally introduced to the park as a form of pest control that got out of hand. While people love the cats, the park managers have the daunting task of keeping the park clean and trying to limit their numbers through adoption and defertilization. Park visitors are free to pet and play with the cats providing infinite entertainment for the bored. Make sure to check it out when you visit!
